From my studio in Berkhamsted, I create works that serve as the emotional and aesthetic anchor of a room. A portrait should capture more than a physical likeness; it should reflect the character of a companion. My goal is to create a meaningful tribute that feels as alive as the subject itself.
I also create site-specific artwork designed to suit the atmosphere of a room. Whether it is a personal residence or a professional environment, I believe art should be the focal point that brings a space together. I work with you to ensure the scale and style of the piece are perfectly balanced with its surroundings.
To ensure each project receives the focus it requires, I accept only a select number of commissions each year. This allows me to maintain a high standard of craftsmanship and work closely with every patron from the first sketch to the final piece.
I view every commission as a site-specific dialogue. A work of art must resonate with the architecture and atmosphere it inhabits.
By considering light, scale, and the intended energy of a room, I ensure each piece becomes an intentional extension of the interior.
Creating a bespoke piece of art is a collaborative journey. Whether we are capturing the character of a companion or designing a centerpiece for a room, I follow a thoughtful process to ensure the final work feels perfectly at home in your space.
1. Initial Enquiry & Availability: I enjoy working closely with my clients, so I take on a limited number of commissions at a time. This ensures I can give your project the dedicated energy and care it deserves. The first step is a simple conversation to check my current availability and discuss what you have in mind for your piece.
2. Consultation & Reference: Once we move forward, we will have a consultation to discuss the requirements for your piece. For portraits, we will review and select the best reference photographs together to ensure we capture the right character. We will look at the specific room where the art will hang, discussing the lighting, the colour palette, and the overall atmosphere. This allows us to tailor the work so it perfectly complements the feel of the space.
3. The Creative Journey: Once the work begins, I provide updates along the way. This allows you to see the piece develop and ensures that the final artwork resonates with the spirit and style we discussed. Every commission is a partnership, resulting in an enduring work of art that is uniquely yours.
